Beer Canada guests polled: Best MP to have a beer with
OTTAWA, ONTARIO – June 16, 2016 – On Wednesday, Senator Jim Munson opened Parliament Hill’s East Block Courtyard to Parliamentarians, brewing industry members and selected guests at Beer Canada’s annual ‘Celebrate Beer BBQ’.
Over 350 invitees sampled a selection of different beers, from radlers to session ales, in the spirit of BBQ season. The menu included a traditional sausage on a bun, freshly baked pretzels, vegetables and frites.
An informal polling station asked guests “which MP would you most want to have a beer with?” Michael Cooper, MP for St. Albert ‐ Edmonton received the most votes amongst Conservatives MPs, while Nathan Cullen, MP for Skeena ‐ Bulkley Valley led amongst NDP MPs. Not surprisingly, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was the most popular choice for Liberal MPs.
“Canada’s brewers are known globally for making great beer and we are proud of the products we make,” said John Sleeman, Sleeman Breweries Ltd. and Beer Canada Chair, “We enjoyed the opportunity to host Parliamentarians on behalf of Canada’s brewers and wish everyone a great summer.”
From St. John’s to Whitehorse, Beer Canada advocates on behalf of its members to ensure brewers are able to operate in a healthy regulatory environment and that beer remains a celebrated part of Canada’s culture. Membership is open to all brewers with a federal excise license.
